As summer comes to a close,
The pool sparkles with hope. An invitation for children to splish and splash, Making waves of glee for all to see. The pool knows these moments are fleeting, The children know too. The water will settle into a routine, But until then- One last dive into fun in the sun.

Plastic Rumors
There was a rumor floating around . . . Like a plastic bag flapping in the road on a windy day, It served no purpose. Just there, thrashing and bashing and causing a ruckus. All noise, no substance. So I grabbed it and put it in a box. Locked it away so it couldn’t bother anyone else. No chance to get caught in the wheels of gossip, No chance to shred someone’s day, No chance to cause an accident of the heart, Like that bag, rumors are annoying and can cause damage on the road of life, Especially when you least expect it Cleaning up a mess before it begins is key. Protect yourself and your friends and lock rumors in boxes, never to see the light of day. Heavenly Justice
Bullies rarely play by the rules, yet their victims are put on trial. Abuse power to judge others. Found guilty of just existing in their world. Trapped in a prison of torment. Sentenced to daily doses of irrational thought, Rely on visits of fantasy to escape, Maybe they’ll arrest someone else and release me. Maybe they’ll break these chains and I can be free Maybe I can go on to live a normal life and put this all behind and be, A second chance to embrace who I am. They should be held accountable for their crimes on the innocent, But the world isn’t always fair. Walk away and never look back, For I’m stronger because of what I went through. Let justice prevail from above. https://twitter.com/stepha_henson/status/1556413991592902656?s=20&t=de89HdpwYO8C_TRdjDFalw
I took a shot and entered a Lyrical Informational Fiction piece about Butterflies . Passing along contest info: https://karengreenwald.com/nf-contests #sunwritefun The Butterfly Theater By Stephanie Henson 191 words Informational Fiction/Lyrical The Butterfly Theater is a magical place. Only open in the warm summer months. We are ushered in to learn about the program of their life, Tiny eggs with a dream to grow, From cocoon to confidence. From slithering to soaring. Reaching new heights of development. Hundreds of them wave at us upon entry into the house. A front row seat to say hello, Wings flapping and fluttering about. Emerging from a silk of solitude to put on a performance of power for us. Stars of the show on a stage built for grand performance. Twirling and swirling and whirling through the air, A portrayal of nature in motion. We watch, captivated at their feats of dramatic acrobatics. Flying with precision - landing on various plants, props and us! Our senses are tickled at the best ticket in town, Gorgeous costumes of color called scales mesmerize the eyes, Each butterfly unique in their talent and beauty, They might not be able to hear the applause, But surely they can feel a standing ovation of appreciation, For these creatures of the chrysalis. Fairy Wings
Fairy wings flutter with pixie dust, A magical sprinkle of prayers answered, Where the wishes of children are carried away, On the backs of mythical creatures, To a land where wonder and good fortune prevails. |
